Glossary

- Aerobatics – Thrilling manoeuvres that involve bank angles greater than 60 degrees and/or pitch angles greater than 45 degrees.
- Aero teaser – Short aerobatics display.
- Airfield/Ground Attack – An aircraft simulates manoeuvres used to attack a ground target in combat.
- Balbo – a large group of warbirds flying in formation
- Dogfight/Tailchase – 1 or more aircraft chase another, as they would in aerial combat.
- Flag Drop – Aircraft climb to altitude before releasing skydivers, who descend with large flags suspended below them.
- Flypast – 1 or more aircraft fly straight and level past the airshow audience.
- Formation flypasts – A flypast performed by 2 or more aircraft holding a set formation.
- Handling display – An aircraft demonstrates its flying ability with manoeuvres that may or may not include aerobatics, depending on the individual aircraft’s capability.
- Scramble – 1 or more parked aircraft start and take off in the shortest time possible.
- Solo – A single aircraft performing.
- Wall Of Fire – Exploding fireball pyrotechnics placed in a row alongside the main flying display runway.
