The 2026 Sydney Hobart Yacht Race‘s Classic Regatta is offering to include an International Rating Certificate (IRC) division, sufficient entries pending.
If a division is created, it would likely be subdivided into Classics (pre-1976) & Modern Classics (1975-1995).
Yachts must hold a current & valid standard or endorsed IRC issued by the Royal Ocean Racing Club by the start of the Classic Regatta.
27 yachts have so far entered the 2026 Classic Regatta as of publication but as the IRC division has not yet been formally created, the amount of interest in the division is as yet unknown.
If you haven’t entered yet, the Classic Regatta is open to any yacht that launched before 1996 & has participated in the main race to Hobart before.
Entries for the Classic Regatta, which can be made here, close at 12pm AEDT, Monday the 7th of December.
The 2026 Sydney Hobart Yacht Race will begin at 1pm on Boxing Day, Saturday the 26th of December with tickets to watch the start from the Official Spectator Vessel, The Jackson, still available here while the Classic Regatta will be held from 1:55pm, Friday the 11th of December to 3:30pm, Sunday the 13th of December.
