Singapore PR agency Huntington Communications was re-contracted by Sydney-based Avviso Public Relations as the Singapore agency for the International Public Relations (IPR) Team, a global network of independent public relations consultancies that provides a mechanism for organisations seeking overseas representation to find a suitable consultancy in their target markets, of which Avviso is also a member of.

Lena Soh-Ng, senior Partner of Huntington Communications, said the agency will join leading agency Avviso & the IPR Team to roll out a program to 24 countries.

On 9 June 2013, from Circular Quay to Darling Harbour, all vantage points were very crowded. Ferries & roads were at capacity. After 10pm, most vantage points were still very busy.

Doctor Who (1 June)

The 50th Anniversary of the world’s most iconic space traveller, Doctor Who, was celebrated by legions of costumed fans and festivalgoers on Saturday June 1, when a special 3D-mapped projection of the legendary BBC television program screened on the grand façade of Customs House. The projection showcased an amazing visual feast of colour, light and movement as Doctor Who travelled through space and time, pursued by some of his greatest enemies. The Doctor Who projections were displayed at 6 intervals throughout the evening, featuring music from the TV show including I Am The Doctor. The 1st Doctor Who projection was shown at 6:50pm, then 10 minutes to every hour, until midnight.

Colour The Bridge ***NEW***

Collaborators, Intel Australia, 32 Hundred Lighting & North Sydney Council, brought a world-1st immersive light display from an interactive touchscreen located on the Luna Park boardwalk to the upper and lower arches and the road deck of the western face of the Sydney Harbour Bridge using more than 100,000 vibrant coloured light-emitting diodes.

On Tuesday 21 May, NSW Deputy Premier & Minister For Trade And Investment, Andrew Stoner, previewed Colour The Bridge. The Deputy Premier chose a colourful rainbow of bold pinks, reds, blues and greens. He was joined by Kate Burleigh, Managing Director Intel Australia & New Zealand, North Sydney Mayor Jilly Gibson & Iain Reed from 32 Hundred Lighting.

A competition was held by Intel & The Daily Telegraph for under 16-year-olds to be the 1st person to officially colour up the Sydney Harbour Bridge for Vivid Sydney. They had to explain in 25 words or less what design & colours they would use to paint the Sydney Harbour Bridge in light. A Neutral Bay girl, Holly Hughes, won the competition & thus were the 1st person to officially colour the Sydney Harbour Bridge for Vivid Sydney ever.

Before State Of Origin 2013, NSW Minister For Tourism & Major Events, George Souris, NSW Blues Rugby League Team Vice-Captain, Robbie Farah, coloured the Bridge blue.

Aquatique ***NEW***

On Wednesday 22 May, NSW Deputy Premier & Minister For Trade & Investment, Andrew Stoner, took part in the very 1st preview of Aquatique.

For the 1st time in Vivid Sydney’s history, Vivid Light has extended to Darling Harbour & will transform the popular entertainment area on the hour ever hour from 6pm until Midnight into a musical spectacle of dancing water fountains, water screen projection performances & dazzling light and water shows, never seen before in Australia, masterminded by France’s legendary Aquatique Show International.

Audiences were also treated to added fireworks over the long weekend including 3 shows on Saturday night (at 7pm, 8:30pm & 10pm) & 2 shows on Thursday, Friday and Sunday nights (at 7pm & 9pm).

A Blockbuster Video Game: The Last of Us

I’m excited to be participating in such an iconic Australian creative festival & look forward to sharing insight from my experience in the video game industry.

Ricky Cambier, Naughty Dog game designer

Ricky Cambier, a game designer at Naughty Dog, led this 1-hour ticketed panel held at the Museum Of Contemporary Art on June 4. He was the 1st international gaming community member to appear at Vivid Sydney & was joined on the panel by Australian game industry experts.

He discussed Naughty Dog’s process on The Last Of Us including the development of its production process, mechanics and story, to explain what goes into building a major video game project & bringing it to a global market.

10 days later, The Last of Us was released globally & has since become a media franchise including a comic book, live show, television show, theme park attraction, board games & of course, video game sequels.

Sydney Film Festival

The Sydney Film Festival launched on 6 June, kicking off at the Sydney Film Festival Hub at Lower Town Hall from 6pm. Saturday, Sunday and Monday, it was open from noon & Tuesday-Friday (except Opening Night) from 5pm. Open daily until midnight until 14 June.

Aftermath

From 21 June-14 July, Vivid Sydney conducted an online 5–10-minute feedback survey with participants (who had to be 16+) going into a draw to win a prepaid VISA gift card valued at AUD$500. To enter, they need to provide minimum 1st and last names, e-mail address & phone number. The winner was drawn at 9am on the 15th June.
